Important training opportunity for construction industry workers!

Comprehensive four class to be held December 14-17, 2009 in San Diego

Working within the OSHA Training Institute’s criteria for completion of authorized 30-hour Construction Safety Training, JB Safety & Rescue Services has developed a 4-day program covering a variety of training for workers who must assume some level of construction jobsite safety responsibility.  The program emphasizes hazard identification and awareness, avoidance, control and prevention of injury and illness.

After an introduction to OSHA standards, the course will focus on general construction safety practices: fall protection,  electrical (overhead power lines, power tools and cords, grounding, temporary wiring), protection from falling objects, trucks, cranes, trench hazards, unguarded machinery and equipment, stairways and ladders, personal protective and lifesaving equipment, and health hazards in construction.

This is a four-day program and worth every minute of your staff’s time commitment.  The more 30-hour card carrying field employees on your payroll, the safer and more productive your jobsites will be.  After all, a profitable job starts with employee know-how; and jobsite safety knowledge is fundamental to overall productivity.

Individuals who complete all four days of the OSHA 30-Hour class will receive a OSHA 30-Hour Card from the UCSD/OSHA Training Institute.

Sunnyside Fire Department Trench Rescue

Sunnyside, Washington – On October 13-14, JB Safety & Rescue Services held a Trench Rescue class for the Sunnyside Fire Department in eastern Washington.

For many of the firefighters, the class was more of a refresher, but a number of firefighters were new to the subject.

Day one began with a brief in-classroom session in the morning, after which firefighters headed outside for actual demonstration and hands-on instruction in building emergency shores using hydraulic shores, screw jacks and lumber.

Firefighters bracing and shoring for a soil collapse rescue.

Day two included a scenario with a mannequin buried in a deep soil collapse.  Following instructions they learned from the prior day’s training, firefighters did an excellent job of saving the mock victim.

Our next Trench Rescue class will be held on November 2-3 or December 1-2 at the offices of  the Vista Irrigation District, in San Diego County.  Contact us for more information.
